Kit Kat - Revisited
A while ago I posted about Green Tea Kit Kat. Someone commented on that to mention that there were new flavors of Kit Kit out as well, and I happened to run into those at a convienence store too.

Yum... Can you taste it?
Melon and, Passion Fruit. I haven't tried either one yet.
I was surprised how many websites there are now for buying Japanese snacks from abroad... We could buy Pocky in the asian foods store at near my university campus... That was a pretty hardcore, by-Koreans-for-Koreans type of place though. Not exactly mainstream among the locals of that small US town. It seems like the need for Japanese snacks is a bit more mainstream now... Seems so anyway.
They don't sell Pocky in Hy-Vee or Dahl's or anywhere like that do they?
What's the deal? What's wrong with American snacks? Are Japanese snacks so much more delicious than our Cheeto's and Dorito's? What about Jolly Ranchers?? And Gummy Bears!!!
Hi-Cyuu is pretty good though...
Sleepy...

wow, it seems like you miss the cheetos man. oh you know now bloomington has like 5 oriental grocery stores. I can walk a little ways in any direction and have acess to mochi! ^_______^ I'ts heaven. oh btw I'm face painting at the big IU student event as a rep for north japan club. (it's a long story but we really bonded with their student council) wai! I always get nervous when I have to speak but It usually comes out okay i guess. so... how are things?
Hey I think it's just that the food industry is so oversaturated that any opportunity for growth is jumped on. Lots of people see a novelty value in Asian candies.. and yeah Pocky is actually good.. I don't know why there hasn't been a more aggressive US launch of pocky at competitive prices.
Dude, if you have a craving for Kool Aid or Country Time Pink Lemonade I have like 8 pounds of it at home. Birthday present, lol. Yeah I guess just the weirdness of the snacks themselves make it popular. You know, choco on a stick and all that jazz. And the flavours! we'd probably be a big hit if we opened up a JP pizza shop...mayonaise, teriyaki chicken pizza w/olives.
All diehard American-ryori fans living in Japan should make a trip to Guam every six months, and stock up at the world's largest K-Mart. Bargain basement trips from Narita to Guam run for under $300 including airfare and hotel, and you can more than make up that money in all those American goodies you haul back.
We have a bunch of Oriental-Marts here that sell Pocky. There is a Filipino version of Cheetos; I think they are called Cheese Ringz- I can eat an entire bag in one sitting. Also, some of the mainstream groceries stores are getting into the whole "multicultural thing" -- the Jewel across the street has like 2 aisles of Latin American, Asian, Kosher, etc foods! Nice! But no Green Tea Kit Kats yet! Only regular and a white chocolate kind.
