If you need something to decorate your room that is also useful you should check out the Kanji Wall poster from White Rabbit Press.

When I first read the details on the Kanji poster I laughed out loud in surprise. It’s pretty amazing!

It contains ALL the joyo Kanji. That’s like 1,945 Kanji! On your wall! Insanity.

That’s every character you’ll need to know for any level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam. It’s pretty much every Kanji most students of Japanese will need to know ever.

That’s a lot of Kanji.

On the poster you get the Kanji and the On and Kun readings, as well as the okurigana for whatever verbs the Kanji is used with. The numbers on the Kanji are linked to the WhiteRabbit Press Kanji flashcards which have recently been revised to match the new JLPT exam.

I move too often to warrant owning this myself… but once I settle down I’ll probably get one – if not for myself for the eventual kids! Will seeing the Kanji every single day make them love the Kanji? Or will it make the go crazy? Who knows.

Anyone out there already own this poster?

I own this. My perception has changed over time. When I first started, it was discouraging to look at it. The more I learn the more encouraging the poster is — sort of a timeline of my progress.

I have one. :) I feel the same as Manuel W about it, it shows your progress. Before getting this poster I didn’t have a clear idea of how many kanji I knew/needed to know. Seeing them all one one big sheet makes it feel like an achievable goal. :)
