I was under the impression that they were a lot more popular than that. Maybe after the Shibuya-kei scene died everyone just forgot?
I thought the Shibuya-kei scene was fairly popular in the 90′s.

I heard about them by their ad on the back of Mangajin issues. But upon arriving in Japan in 1998, like you said, people didn’t know who I was talking about.

Actually Pizzicato 5 are not well known in Japan! Some people will know if you say Nomiya Maki, or Konishi, but the group itself is not so popular.

Are they popular in Japan? I thought they were but no one I’ve talked to has seem to have heard of them here!
