BNE in Japan
June 6, 2007 on 6:16 pm | In Humor | | Email This PostHas anyone heard of this “BNE” sticker phenomenon?

If you Google it, you’ll find lots of hits for sure.
Apparently some graffiti artist has become world famous, by getting his mysterious “BNE” stickers posted in major cities around the world.
There is debate as to what it stands for, but I have heard that it is probably some type of abbreviation for the artists name.
I found these in Yokohama.

BNE is the airport code for Brisbane, Australia.
Funnily enough, Brisbane is well known for it’s influential graff writers, and sticker bombers.
Also, it’s not unusual for Australians to be semi literate in Japanese (We’re force fed during primary and high school). Which could be an explanation for the Kanji characters for visit, that often appear as part of the stickers.

This is the same guy who started the “Andre the Giant has a posse” phenomenon that was big when I was in college (I still see a sticker or two every year to this day!)
