allergies

My nose is stuffed. My eyes are teary. In the morning I sneeze.

Seems I have pollen allergies.

I have never had them before. This is my first year. My allergy “debut” if you will.

You’ve probably seen pictures of people in Japan wearing white masks which cover their nose and mouth. These mainly serve two purposes. One, is if someone has a cold, the mask will ensure they don’t spread their germs to others. The other, is to keep pollen out for people who have allergies.

I’m too stylish to wear the mask. (heh)

Actually, the main pollen season is already over in Japan. So it’s kind of rare that I’m still affected. The pharmacists say it might be due to “butakusa” or some type of wild grass causing my reaction.

Some of my foreign friends say that foreigners will start being affected  after about five years in Japan. This is my fifth year… Right on schedule?

Anyway, I’ll be happy when I can breathe through my nose normally again!

    Really? Foreigners start to get it after approximately 5 years in Japan? I started to get it (mildly) last year, being my fifth year in Japan.

    Wow interesting J. Another one bites the dust. It’s just a rumor, the 5 year thing… But… If you use me, and now you, as the sole basis of the study… It’s true 100% of the time!

    Very scientific!

    It’s also common for people to develop allergies as they approach their 30s, or so the television series House would have us believe.
