Japan not safe for Gold
March 19, 2007 on 10:36 am | In Humor, Society | | Email This PostJapan is safe, but apparently no longer safe enough to leave a million dollar chunk of gold bullion lying around.
There is a museum in Hida Takayma (yeah the same Hida with the Sarubobo!) that has a giant hunk of gold on display inside of a case with holes in it, so the guests can touch it.
But, the gold got stolen.
Doh.
I’ve been there actually!

So, readers of JapanNewbie, put your gold bullion in a bag, or like, under your bed or something.
You don’t want this to happen to you.

The Reuters report is much more dramatic: “Shoving aside a woman museum worker, the three then fled with an accomplice who had been serving as lookout.”

So, you took it?

If I took it, would I still be here!? No way! I’d be in south Spain chillin on the beach!

I’m guessing that they guy who owned the gold had insurance on the gold, and hired someone to steal it. Once he collects the insurance money, he’ll melt down the gold and sell it.

He didn’t hire me! I swear.
