Learn Japanese with Advertisements

December 13, 2006 on 12:53 pm | In About, Language | | Email This Post

Remember the few posts which taught Japanese through advertisements?

I think ads are a good way to keep your Japanese knowledge fresh and up-to-date, and often they have easy to remember catch phrases that help to build vocabulary.

Anyone think it would be interesting if I started a second blog which featured a new print advertisement, with language explanation regularly?

I think it would be pretty easy to maintain, and would help me with my Japanese studies as well!

Let me know if anyone is interested and maybe I’ll buckle down and set it up!

It’d probably be more helpful than poring through decade-old manga with a dictionary…

Great another couple votes. I’m always curious how many people who read this site are interested in the language stuff.

I’d love to see that! Although I don’t know if it would be necessary to put it in a different blog. You could just intersperse the ads among your regular posts here.

Not only would it be cool as a language learning tool, but it would also be interesting for people to see the kind of ads that are popular in Japan. It sounds like a great idea!

Thanks for the vote of confidence James! I’ve decided to do it…

I think after I get rolling, I might consider working from not only print ads, but TV ads on YouTube as well! That would be cool… Would need more time to transcribe them and stuff though…
