Japanese Emoticon orz
December 6, 2006 on 2:30 pm | In Culture, Humor | | Email This PostJapanese emoticons are way more “advanced” than those in the US. For example, there is one called ‘orz’.
It resembles a person on their hands and knees, defeated. The ‘o’ is his head, the ‘r’ his hands, which are planted on the floor, and the ‘z’ is his legs, bent at the knee.
Here is an image and great explanation.

If you’re up to it, you can also dig the orz Japan site for more orz related fun.
Here’s a flash orz. Click his head to make him say がっくり (gakkuri). The definition of gakkuri on our favorite dictionary ALC… Wow. This is great.
- がっくり
- 【間投】bummage
There you have it.
