Kitty Sponge Cake
November 3, 2006 on 8:50 am | In Food | | Email This PostMaybe this is old news and I’m just noticing it for the first time.
Mini sponge cakes, or “baby castella(sp?)” (カステラ) as they call it in Japan, are famous snacks for sale during festivals. Usually, they are just mini bite-sized balls of cake that you buy by the bag.

At a recent festival, I saw these Hello Kitty shaped sponge cakes!

Not that I’m a fan of Hello Kitty… Or even that fond of sponge cake… But yeah. Cool.

Haha, the Kitty Cakes are very cute. So are the Pokemon on that plastic awning. XD

Hey Fifth, there were other places that had pokemon shaped cakes as well, I think that’s the story behind the awning. Yum.
They all taste the same though of course.

Kitty kasutera looks very cute indeed.
Peko-chan yaki at Kagurazaka is also a kind of “character kasutera” but it reminds me of horror films rather than being cute.
