Shizouka International Translation Competition

October 4, 2006 on 9:28 am | In Language | | Email This Post

For any aspiring Japanese to English translators out there, the yearly Shizouka International Translation Competition is underway. Click here for Application instructions and contest details.

This is by no means easy. I think even Z of TechJapan would find it a worthy challenge.

The grand prize is approximately 10,000 USD and a one year grant to study in Japan.

You can have the translation texts, and also a booklet containing the winning translations from the previous year mailed to you free, so it doesn’t hurt to take a look. To get the materials, send an email to the organizers.

I have received my copy of the booklet, and this is hardcore literary translation. None of this direct word for word translation stuff.

The submission deadline for completed translations is December 10th, so hurry!

Ah…I’m planning on…sort of going for it. Meaning, I’ll work on it but not worry too much if I don’t make the deadline. And I love hardcore literary translation! Yay! *dokidoki*

Wow, I was planning on going for it… But then saw the translations from the winners of last years conference… And decided to put my dictionary back on the shelf.

    This is -hardcore- translation!

Go for it Grace! You can do it!
